About "MAZU 947"
The MAZU 947 building is located in the southern part of Mexico City, on a corner lot between Miguel Ángel de Quevedo Avenue and Vicente García Torres Street.
Originally designed and built in the 1960s by Architect Miguel Giralt Pelegri, the building reflects the modern Mexican architectural movement. It was initially intended to house the architect’s family, but as time passed, the surrounding area transformed, with the main avenue changing its zoning from residential to commercial. This prompted the decision to remodel the property and shift the building’s use.
The façade is composed of two key elements: the base, clad in black striated block tiles, responding to pedestrian scales, and the upper body featuring smooth plaster and rectangular windows that frame the treetops.
On the ground floor, commercial spaces are arranged around a central courtyard, with a lobby providing access to the second floor where offices are located. The central patio is the heart of the project, serving as the main gathering space while also providing light and air to the surrounding areas.
The patio maintains its modernist architecture, while integrating a new contemporary language that looks toward the future.

El edificio MAZU 947 se encuentra en el sur de la Ciudad de México, en un lote tipo cuchilla entre la avenida Miguel Ángel de Quevedo y la calle Vicente García Torres.
La arquitectura de la casa pertenece al movimiento moderno mexicano, y fue proyectada y construida en los años 60 por el Arquitecto Miguel Giralt Pelegri con el propósito de albergar a su familia. Con el paso del tiempo, la avenida principal cambió el uso de suelo de residencial a comercial, lo que llevó a la decisión de remodelar la propiedad y transformar el uso del edificio.
La fachada se compone de dos elementos: el basamento revestido por losetas de block estriado negro, respondiendo a las escalas peatonales, y el cuerpo superior con aplanado y ventanas rectangulares que enmarcan las copas de los árboles.
En la planta baja del edificio se encuentran los locales comerciales, rodeados por el patio central y el vestíbulo que da acceso a la segunda planta, donde se ubican las oficinas. El patio central es el corazón del proyecto, funcionando como el espacio principal de convivencia entre las personas y como la fuente de luz y aire para los espacios.
El patio mantiene su arquitectura modernista, a la vez que retoma las formas del pasado e integra un lenguaje contemporáneo que mira hacia el futuro.
