About "Puebla’s Center of Social Rehabilitation"

"REINSERTA helps kids grow and develop under the same conditions a child their age would experience outside of prison."

This project introduces a maternal addition to Puebla’s Center of Social Rehabilitation, in collaboration with REINSERTA, aiming to provide a practical, supportive environment for incarcerated mothers and their children (0-3 years old). The design focuses on creating a more humane and functional space, with a clear objective to improve quality of life within the prison setting.

The layout includes homes, parks, plazas, edible gardens, a movie theater, a school, and a hospital, offering a variety of spaces that cater to both daily needs and long-term development. By incorporating natural light and communal areas, the project seeks to break away from the isolating nature of traditional prison architecture and provide a supportive atmosphere for both mothers and their children.

The architecture is straightforward but carefully designed to provide comfort and safety. Materials and spatial arrangements prioritize functionality and well-being while being sensitive to the needs of the inhabitants. The goal is to enhance daily life within the prison and encourage a sense of community, all while supporting family bonds and child development.

Sobre "Centro de Readaptación Social de Puebla"

"REINSERTA ayuda a los niños a crecer y desarrollarse bajo las mismas condiciones que un niño de su edad tendría fuera de prisión."

Este proyecto presenta una ampliación maternal para el Centro de Readaptación Social de Puebla, en colaboración con REINSERTA, con el objetivo de ofrecer un entorno práctico y de apoyo para las madres privadas de libertad y sus hijos (0-3 años). El diseño busca transformar la experiencia carcelaria a través de un espacio más humano y funcional, mejorando la calidad de vida dentro de la cárcel.

El proyecto incluye casas, parques, plazas, huertos comestibles, un cine, una escuela y un hospital, proporcionando una variedad de espacios que cubren tanto las necesidades diarias como el desarrollo a largo plazo. Al incorporar luz natural y áreas comunes, se busca romper con el aislamiento de la arquitectura carcelaria tradicional, creando un ambiente que fomente la interacción y el apoyo entre madres e hijos.

La arquitectura es funcional y cuidadosamente diseñada para ofrecer comodidad y seguridad. Los materiales y la distribución espacial se priorizan en función de las necesidades de los habitantes, mejorando la vida diaria en la prisión y promoviendo la integración familiar y el desarrollo infantil.
